The Bohemian Life: At Home with Ciana DeBernardo in her Treehouse Bungalow
Even if you’re not onboard with the macramé reboot, you can’t deny the easy allure of the laid-back California aesthetic. Recently, interior stylist Allegra Hsiao and commercial photographer George Barberis had the opportunity to capture the enchanting treehouse bungalow and effortless style of its owner, Ciana DeBernardo, situated in the redwoods above Muir Beach.
A stylist herself, Ciana’s living room is quite literally hanging off the cliffs of Muir Beach Overlook in California’s Marin County. The rustic beach cottage provided the quintessential Northern California backdrop for George and Allegra to showcase Ciana’s simple and beautiful aesthetic sensibility.
Allegra had the privilege of using mostly Ciana’s own “props” for the shoot. It was important to her to help George capture the sense of place. “Ciana is a very spiritual person. It was very important that we conveyed that feel in styling the shots. There is a quiet of Muir Beach that I also hoped to illustrate.”
Meanwhile, Allegra, a veteran on photo shoots was especially excited to have George join her on location: “George was the perfect photographer for this shoot. He's got such an artistic eye and talent for capturing mood. He's so intensely focused on bringing the essence of the place to the final images.”
