Food and Still Life Photographer George Barberis Joins Sally Bjornsen Represents
I am so pleased to announce the addition of photographer George Barberis to my roster of talent. George, who is based both in Brooklyn NY and Portland Oregon, exudes passion and enthusasim in the images he creates. His style is fresh and original harkening back to moody paintings from the Dutch masters.
Born in Queens,George Barberis first fell in love with photography as a teenager, inspired by New York City's subways, architecture and endless sea of people. Later, while trail building with the Americorps program, his passion for creating images was inspired by the dramatic landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and his first darkroom. He eventually pursued a degree in fine arts photography from the Evergreen College, where he was able to build his portfolio shooting documentary work across Europe.
George's desire to pursue a commercial photography career brought him back to New York, where he worked alongside notable still life, interior, and fashion photographers, as an assistant and digital tech. George traveled the world with large crews for international ad campaigns, and editorial shoots for magazines like Vogue and Elle Decor and World of Interiors, learning the subtleties of the craft and the technical expertise of being a professional photographer.
In early 2012 George set out on his own as a commercial photographer. Since that time he has worked for W Hotel, Hyatt Hotel, Pantone, and Obeah NYC among others.
George brings energy, a sense of humor and passion to every shoot. His lighting is full of intimacy and drama. His background in the field adds to his attention to detail both on set and in post. He is a consummate professional with a network of clients across the US who trust and rely on his work.
