Cinematic Food Styling from Rachel Grunig

In large part, successful styling is the ability to reveal something ordinary in an extraordinary way. Recently, prop and food stylist Rachel Grunig teamed up with photographer Kyle Mutter to reinvent the way we look at certain everyday and exotic ingredients. The resulting images make an extraordinary impact.

According to Rachel, the concept arose organically from a pretty simple idea. “We both wanted to shoot something bright and poppy and were inspired by a pink newsprint background. I found inspiration in the aisles of Uwajimaya--pink and yellow noodles--and was sure they’d make for an interesting picture. From that point on, Kyle and I just experimented with yellow and pink seamless and added colorful ingredients.”
