Rachel Grunig Celebrates Spring with Sprinkles

As a food, interior and prop stylist, Rachel Grunig is a rare commodity on set. It's unusual in this business that a stylist has the acumen to work across such a broad range of subjects. Rachel really can do it all. She notices the smallest of details, right down to the sprinkle!

A giver by nature, Rachel's decided to share her recipe for homemade sprinkles with us today. So, if you're looking for a fun project or just tired of eating waxy, chemically sprinkles, Rachel's recipe is a sweet way to celebrate spring!

What you'll need:

1 1/2 c powdered sugar
1 TB light corn syrup
2 TB water
1/2 tsp vanilla (or other flavoring)
food coloring
pastry bags
small pastry tip

What you'll do:

Combine the powdered sugar, corn syrup, water and vanilla. Mix until smooth. You want to achieve the consistency of glue. Add more water if needed. Divide into smaller bowls and add desired food coloring. Put each color into a pastry bag and pipe into thin lines on parchment paper. Let dry for 12 hours or so, then break into smaller pieces.
Eat and enjoy!

A big thanks to Seattle photographer Amy Johnson for the video footage. Please visit www.sallyreps.com to see more from Rachel!
