Sarah Flotard Brings a Certain 'Je Ne Sais Quoi' to Food Photography
You can tell photographer Sarah Flotard grew up in the kitchen. Her photography speaks volumes about the deep and playful feelings food evokes. “My childhood absolutely shaped the way I see food today. Food and the way it looked was important. Some of my earliest memories are of me standing next to my mom in the kitchen and she was all about 'making it nice.' When I left for college, she sent me off with an antique melon baller.”
Early on in her career, Sarah had worked as Marketing Director for James Beard award-winning chef, Tom Douglas. Her study of food and people helped her to develop her own unique point of view as a photographer. “I love the idea of taking simple ingredients, in this case cheese and cream, and experimenting with the different ways to approach it -- either very graphically, playing with texture and shapes, or straight up food porn, and maybe something in between.”
Sarah worked with Seattle-based food stylist, Callie Meyer to create these gorgeous images. To see more of Sarah’s work visit, www.sallyreps.com or www.sarahflotard.com.
